The Stroud Public Schools acting out of an abundance of caution is closing school tomorrow to complete the investigation of the reported threat at the High School today, and another safety concern identified late this afternoon involving Parkview Elementary School students. School is closed to allow thorough and complete investigations into these two issues. The Stroud Police Department is actively involved with school personnel in each of these areas. We believe it is important to devote our resources to eliminate all existing concerns at this time.
Stroud Schools became aware on Monday afternoon of possible threats made against Stroud students and staff regarding their safety and well-being. That information was immediately acted upon and reported to the School Resource Officer and the Stroud Police Department for immediate action and further investigation. That investigation continues as the student allegedly making the threats is in custody of authorities and is not present in the Stroud Schools. Contacts to students, parents and staff members identified as being a target of the threats are ongoing at this time.
The safety and welfare of our students and staff are top priorities for the operations of our schools. We have taken assertive and proactive steps to assure that the safety and welfare of all are in place. Parents, students and staff members who are not actively identified as being a target of the threat are not being contacted. This communication is to serve as a general District communication that we have an active and ongoing action plan for the safety and well-being of our schools at this time.

Stroud Public Schools - Annual Federal Programs Public Meeting Announcement

The current police vehicle presence at Stroud Middle School is not related to any emergency. The vehicles are present and necessary to block the street while the City of Stroud Utility Department conducts work in the area. There is no threat.
This evening the Stroud Police Department received information regarding a rumored threat of a shooting tomorrow (Wednesday, February 25, 2026) at the Stroud Schools and specifically Stroud Middle School. This information was attributed to student sources that attend our schools. After careful and extensive investigation of the rumor by the Stroud Police Department, it has been determined there has been no threat made or verified by any student about an attack on the school. The information appears to have originated with student discussions about the presence of the Stroud Police Department near Stroud Middle School today, as they assisted in blocking Seventh Street for crews doing electrical work in that area. I have confirmed this information with Chief Gaylord this evening. I wish to repeat the information has been determined to be rumor, and the investigation by the Stroud Police Department has verified there has been no threat made toward Stroud Middle School or the Stroud Schools.
