Alternative Education Academy
"Providing Students with Opportunities to Enhance Their Quality of Life"
Kim Vickrey - Alternative Education Director |
Stroud Alternative Academy provides an alternate school environment for students who have difficulty achieving in the regular school setting. Students must be recommended for admittance to the Academy by the principal of their respective school. The Academy serves students from four different school districts; Chandler, Davenport, Depew, and Stroud. Presently, the Academy serves students in grades seven through twelve. Students attend classes Monday through Thursday at Heritage Hall which is located at 501 N. 1st Ave. in Stroud. Credit recovery (making up a course) for students is available on a space available basis. Individual schools are responsible for determining if space is available. Full-time alternative education students are given first priority. Academy students work at their own pace on a course of study prescribed by the sending school. Students use computers as well as textbooks in their daily work. All students attend mandatory counseling weekly and they also may receive credit for their work experience. Each student in the Academy is unique. Our goal is to provide students with the tools necessary to further their life's ambition - be it post-secondary education or an occupation. |
